A new law goes into effect July 1, 2024 in Tennessee that increases the penalty for drag racing from a Class A misdemeanor to a Class E felony. This change will give law enforcement the option to charge a person with either drag racing or reckless driving. A Class E felony is punishable by up to six years in prison and a fine of up to $3,000.
