One of the suspects wanted in connection to the shooting of a THP Trooper in Putnam County has been captured.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol announced early Sunday morning that 29-year-old Braze Rucker was arrested in Princeton, Kentucky.

Trooper Adam Cothron was shot during a traffic stop Friday night (7/19/2024) on I-40 in Cookeville.  In a Facebook post early Sunday morning, the THP said Trooper Cothron remains in critical condition.  During a news conference Saturday night, officials said Trooper Cothron is “alert and in good spirits”.

Troopers with Kentucky State Police used Trooper Cothron’s handcuffs to take Rucker into custody.

The search continues for the other suspect and as of Sunday morning they had not been identified.
