Gloria Johnson and Marsha Blackburn will face off for U.S. Senate seat in November

Incumbent U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn and Democratic hopeful Gloria Johnson won their respective primaries on Thursday. Blackburn garnered an overwhelming majority of the vote against Tres Wittum, while Johnson bested 3 contenders to earn the nomination. In 2018, the 72-year-old Blackburn was the first woman to be elected to the U.S. Senate from Tennessee. Gloria Johnson, 62, is currently serving the 90th District in the Tennessee House of Representatives.  In the race for U.S. House District 6, the incumbent Republican, John Rose, was running unopposed, while in the Democratic Primary, Lore Bergman edged out two other contenders.  Republican House Speaker Cameron Sexton was unopposed for the 25th District Tennessee House of Representatives seat, while Wesley M. Adkins was also unopposed in the Democratic Primary.
