Putnam County Sheriff Eddie Farris has given an update on Wednesday’s (8/28/2024) three-hour hearing in Nashville before the Tennessee Health Facility Commission Board to oppose a proposed methodone clinic just outside the Cookeville city limits.
Sheriff Farris says Cedar Recovery wants to open the clinic on Burgess Falls Road, something he sees as a “safety and hazard concern for the citizens of Putnam County.”
The Sheriff, Putnam County Officials, “as well as an overwhelming amount of citizens spoke to the Board opposing the Methadone Clinic.”
Their efforts did not sway the Board.
In a press release Sheriff Farris said, “Just because we have lost the battle, does not mean that we have lost the war. With or without a Methadone Clinic, I will at all costs keep this community safe.”
In a previous press release Sheriff Farris said, “I will hold Cedar Recovery responsible for any laws that are violated and will take action immediately against them.”
