Man Arrested in Burglary of Hwy 127 S Dollar General Near Cumberland Mountain State Park

A Crossville man has been arrested in the burglary of the Dollar General store on Highway 127 South near the Cumberland Mountain State Park.

According to reports, the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the location for an alarm call around 5:45am on Sunday, September 8, 2024.  The responding Deputy observed the back door was open approximately a half inch and audible alarms were going off. A broom handle was wedged partly through the door handle in the suspect’s attempt to barricade the door.

The suspect was still inside and when he tried to run, the deputy deployed his taser, causing the male to fall to the ground, striking his forehead. The suspect required stitches and was transported to CMC.

The suspect has been identified as 47-year-old Jamie Lynn Presley.  He has been charged with Burglary, Theft of Merchandise, Evading Arrest, Simple Possession and Manufacture, Delivery, Sell or Possession of Methamphetamine.

After he was released from the hospital, Presley was transported to the Cumberland County Justice Center.  His bond was set at $33,000 and he is due General Sessions Court on October 7, 2024.
