It was an in-state battle at Regal Stadium in Knoxville Thursday night as the Lady Volunteers Soccer team hosted the 7th ranked Memphis Tigers. Tennessee held their own not allowing Memphis a shot in the first 45 minuets. Finally, three minuets into the second half it was the Lady Volunteers knocking in the game winning goal. Tennessee upsets #7 Memphis with a final score of 1-0.
Junior Mac Midgley scored the game winner in the 48th minuet after the Memphis keeper let go a header by Sammi Woods. Tennessee has concluded their non-conference portion of the schedule going undefeated at home including a draw to #3 UCLA and a win against #7 Memphis. The Lady Vols’ record improves to 5-1-1 with their lone loss to Indiana in the season opener. Tennessee’s next game is a conference opener against Ole Miss on September 19th in Knoxville with kick-off set for 6:00 PM.
