Local law enforcement looking into cases of fraud and identity theft

A Fairfield Glade resident reported someone used his identity to set up an Apple account and run up $1,000 in charges. The victim told authorities he has never had an account with Apple, nor did he know how to set up an account. He contacted Apple who told him the transactions had taken place in Pennsylvania and that they would turn the matter over to their fraud division. He was also advised to contact local law enforcement.  A Bowman Loop resident fell victim to scammers after believing her Facebook account had been compromised. The victim was duped into allowing scammers to access to her computer.
