The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an early morning vehicle fire at Clifty River. According to reports, Deputies were dispatched to the area in the wee hours of Monday and spoke with the caller who said they were camping down by the river and woke up to a car horn. That’s when they found a car on fire near the river.
Deputies located the vehicle which was a white, 4-door, 2021 Chevy Equinox. A vehicle tag was discovered on the ground and traced back to a Cumberland County woman. The woman said she allowed son and his girlfriend drive her vehicle. Deputies went to another residence in Crossville where they spoke with the son and girlfriend who said the last time they saw the vehicle was around midnight sitting in the driveway. An Investigator was notified and will reportedly do a stolen vehicle report and gather more information.
