Vanderbilt University Fined for Students Rushing the Field after Win Against Alabama

The Vanderbilt Commodores shocked the world after upsetting #1 Alabama in football over the weekend. To put in perspective Vanderbilt hasn’t defeated Alabama in 40 years and before Saturday the Commodores were 0-60 against AP Top 5 teams.

The students of Vanderbilt rushed the field after the clock struck zero and proceeded to celebrate with the players, coaches, and fellow peers. The celebrating crowd broke down one of the field goal posts and marched down Broadway and threw the post into the Cumberland River.

However the celebrating was a little too much for the Southeastern Conference as they announced Sunday they will be fining Vanderbilt $100,000 for storming the field. The University of Arkansas was also fined $250,000 for rushing the field after their upset win over #4 Tennessee.
