The College Basketball season opened up last night with 12th ranked Tennessee Volunteers starting the season against the Runnin’ Bulldogs from Gardner-Webb. Rick Barnes, entering his 10th season at the helm of UT Basketball, and his Volunteers posted at 80-64 win over the team from Boiling Springs North Carolina.
Leading the scoring for UT was Chaz Lanier with 18 points. Jordan Gainey, Zakai Zeigler, and Jahmai Mashack scored 16, 13, and 10 points respectively. Darryl Simmons II was the top scorer for the Runnin’ Bulldogs putting up 22 points.
#12 Tennessee starts the season 1-0 and will travel to the Bluegrass State for their second game as they will take on the Louisville Cardinals on Saturday November 9th at 11:00 AM.
