With the holiday season upon us, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office has issued a warning about a surge in mail delivery scams.
Mail delivery scams aim to steal personal information, financial details, and/or payments under false pretenses. Scammers will send out an email, text message, or even physical mail claiming to be from delivery services such as USPS, FedEx, or UPS.
Here are some tips to avoid mail delivery scams:
- If you receive a suspicious message, contact the delivery company directly using their official website or phone number.
- Be cautious of delivery notifications for packages you did not order.
- Do not respond to unknown numbers or emails.
- Always call your local Sheriff’s Office before sending money or revealing any personal information.
