A weekend brush fire heavily damaged the Incline Railway on Lookout Mountain. Officials say the fire started early Saturday morning and destroyed about a quarter mile of track.
The National Park Service said a Type 1 Helicopter was able to successfully complete several water drops and multiple agencies assisted with fire supression. The 10 acre blaze was 100% contained by Sunday afternoon, however, smoke may be visible in the area for the next several days. Currently the cause of the fire is undetermined and is still being investigated by a National Park Service fire investigator.
The Chattanooga Area Regional Transportation Authority (CARTA) has temporarily closed the Incline Railway for repairs. Ticket holders are remined that tickets are valid for one year from date of purchase. If you still have questions contact tickets@seerockcity.com.
