A man stuck for two days in a Clay County Cave was rescued on Saturday just outside of Celina. According to a post on the Clay County Emergency Management Agency Facebook page, the man was reported missing by family around noon on Saturday (12/14, 2024). Multiple agencies responded and the Putnam County Rescue Squad Rope Rescue Team was able to get the man out of the cave shortly after 4pm Saturday. The uninjured adult male said he had gone into the cave on Thursday and had gotten turned around after his flashlight died during a routine cave exploration.
The Clay County Sheriffs Office, Clay County EMS, Celina Fire, Clay E911, Putnam County EMA, Jackson County EMA, TEMA, Putnam County Rescue Squad and Hamilton County Rescue were among the many responders on scene.
