Roane State Foundation supporter Lloyd Porter recently donated $100,000 to Roane State Foundation for the creation of the Lloyd and Barbara Porter Engineering Scholarship Endowment, a scholarship fund that will assist future engineers attending Roane State.
After being discharged from the US Navy, Lloyd Porter was awarded a work scholarship and attended community college, so he understands the impact a scholarship can have on a student’s continued education.
Mr. Porter said he created the scholarship to celebrate his late wife Barbara’s legacy and hopes that others will be inspired to honor their loved ones similarly.
