Cumberland County Woman Loses Thousands In Publishers Clearing House Scam

An elderly Cumberland County woman has lost thousands in a Publishers Clearing House Scam.  The victim’s son contacted the Sheriff’s Office to report  that someone called his mother and told her that she won had $2.5 million. They convinced her that they were going to send her money through her American Express card, so she gave them her information. The scammers made 2 cash advances to themselves; one for $100 and the other for $1900. They tried to use her PayPal which was connected to the card to buy $499 of coinbase and also attempted to get $4000 from her Venmo. The son said he is working with his mother’s bank to get everything shut down. It is unknown at this time who is involved in these fraudulent transactions.
