Mar 13, 2025 | 5:16 PM

A Cumberland County woman has fallen victim to a credit card scam.  According to the Sheriff’s Office, the victim said she was contacted by a man claiming to be an agent with her credit card company who said that someone had made a $1,700 charge on her card in Germany. The man said her credit card company had locked her card and wanted her to sign up for a new one. The woman said she gave the man her social security number, date of birth and other information.  The next day she felt something was not right about the call so she personally contacted her credit card company and that’s when she learned she had been scammed. None of their agents had contacted the woman.  Her credit card company then told the victim about a $400 purchase that had been flagged which she had not made. Her card was canceled and she was instructed to file a police report on the matter.
