Two individuals were arrested after deputies discovered a string of burglarized storage units at A-1 Storage on Highway 70 East. While on extra patrol, a deputy with the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department observed a black Dodge Avenger backed up to a unit on the backside of the property with two individuals inside. Upon approaching, the deputy found an open unit with holes cut into its walls. The occupants of the vehicle, identified as Michael Vanlandingham and Haylee Bullard, were detained at the scene. Bullard, who claimed to rent unit #1, consented to a search. A secondary sweep revealed a 12-inch bread knife covered in sheetrock residue inside the unit. Further investigation uncovered 30 glass pipes commonly used for narcotics. Authorities determined that entry had been gained into multiple units by cutting through sheetrock. Damages were estimated at approximately $2,000. Vanlandingham, 49, of Crossville and Bullard, 32, also of Crossville, face multiple charges, including five counts of vandalism, three counts of burglary, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
