Stone Memorial Baseball Off To The Region Tournament

After a up and down season for the Stone Memorial Baseball team they have qualified for the Region Tournament after finishing second in the District Tournament.

With a current record of 9-10 and a district record of 4-5 the Panthers have made it to the Region Tournament for the first time in the schools history. They qualified for the Region after finishing second in District Tournament held over the weekend. Stone Memorial fell to the Upperman Bees in the Championship series 7-4.

SMHS started this season behind the ball with a 2-7 record with their only wins over Warren County and Cumberland County, however in the middle of the season the bats got hot with the Panthers going on a six game win streak with sweeps over Bledsoe County and Livingston Academy, a win over Roane County, and a major upset over the Cookeville Cavaliers.

Stone’s Gage Eldridge leads the team offensively with the best Batting Average, On Base Percentage, Hits, Slugging Percentage, and Runs Batted In.

Stone Memorial will meet the Wildcats of Lawrence County Friday at Upperman High School in Baxter for the First Round of the Region Tournament.
