Former UT Head Men’s Basketball Coach Bruce Pearl Retires

It was announced on Monday that Bruce Pearl current head coach of the Auburn Tiger’s Men’s Basketball team will retire from coaching.

Pearl has been coaching the Auburn Tigers since 2014 where he took them to 6 NCAA Tournaments. He also helped win 3 SEC Regular Season Championships and 2 SEC Tournament Championships. His son Steven Pearl, former Vol basketball player, will take over as head Coach for Auburn this season.

Bruce Pearl spent six seasons with the University of Tennessee where he took them to the NCAA Tournament all six seasons. The farthest he went with the Vols was in 2009-10 when they went to the Elite Eight. Pearl and the Vols also won the SEC Regular Season Championship in 2007-08.

Bruce Pearl ends his career with a win-loss record of 706-268. He’ll finish with 14 NCAA Tournament appearances: 14 Round of 64 appearances, 10 Round of 32 appearances, 6 Sweet 16 appearances, 3 Elite Eight appearances, and 2 Final Fours. Coach Pearl is also a National Championship winning coach. He won the NCAA Division II National Title in 1994 with Southern Indiana.
