Tony Vitello Accepts San Francisco Giants Job

Tennessee Baseball’s Tony Vitello will be departing Knoxville for the Golden State. The 2024 National Champion head coach will be the next manager of, the Major League Baseball club, the San Francisco Giants.

The Giants sacked Bob Melvin on September 29th after going 81-81 on the year and missing the playoffs for the fourth consecutive season.

Tony Vitello will leave after serving as the head ball coach for Tennessee for 7 years being hired back in June of 2017. He’ll end his run as a Vol with 341 Wins, 2 SEC Regular Season Titles, 2 SEC Tournament Titles, 5 Regional Championships, 3 College World Series Births, and 1 National Championship.

Tennessee Athletic Director Danny White said in a statement, “Congratulations to Tony on this incredible opportunity to lead the San Francisco Giants. We Wish him the best as he embarks on this new chapter in his career and thank him for everything he has done to transform Tennessee baseball into a championship program.”
