It was a big weekend for Tennessee Athletics as, the #18 Tennessee Vols basketball team hosted Northern Kentucky, the #8 Tennessee Lady Vols were on the road to play UT Martin in the Pat Summitt Heritage Classic, and Lady Vols Tennis wrapped up the ITA Sectionals in Baton Rouge.

The men’s basketball team turned in a 95-56 victory Saturday afternoon against Northern Kentucky at Food City Center. #18 Tennessee (2-0) led by 20-plus for the final 21 minutes and got a game-high 23 points from forward Nate Ament, the most by a freshman for the Volunteers since Nov. 24, 2022.

The #8 Lady Vols survived a sluggish first half and a determined opponent, holding off upset-minded UT Martin, 72-61, in the Pat Summitt Heritage Classic on Sunday at the Elam Center in Martin, Tennessee. Senior guard Nya Robertson stepped up with her best outing as a Lady Vol, firing in 17 points to lead the Big Orange.

Finally, the Tennessee women’s tennis team concluded play at the ITA South Sectional Sunday, completing the fall slate of ITA championship events. One Lady Vol pair collected a win in the final of the doubles consolation bracket. Vanesa Suarez and Saray Yli-Piipari combined for a 6-3, 4-6, 10-5 victory, taking down Vanderbilt’s Pearce/Yamakita tandem.
