The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) presented its recommendations for the 2026-27 hunting and trapping seasons at the Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission’s March meeting. There were no proposed changes for big game seasons, however the Commission discussed the start date of spring turkey season and are seeking public input. Calendar dates were shared for waterfowl and deer seasons. Wildlife Management Area (WMA) recommendations were presented with only a few changes across the state. Additionally, TWRA announced two flintlock heritage hunts in partnership with TN State Parks. The Commission will vote on the 2026-27 Agency proposals at its April 16-17 meeting, to be held in Knoxville. Once approved, the regulations will become effective Aug. 1.
To hear the full discussion on each proposal, watch the meetings on TWRA’s YouTube channel. The public can provide comments on all proposals through April 2. Visit TWRA’s public notice webpage or email TWRA.huntingcomments@tn.gov to provide comments.
