Speeders will not be tolerated in Tennessee and several other states in the South this summer.
The Slow Down Tennessee speeding awareness campaign runs July 13-31, 2026.
In 2025, there were 5,943 speeding-related crashes in Tennessee. THSO, THP and local law enforcement agencies are raising awareness this month about the dangers of speeding and cracking down on violators.
The first week of Slow Down Tennessee coincides with Operation Southern Slow Down, coordinated by the Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
Operation Southern Slow Down is a multi-state speed awareness campaign and begins Monday, July 13 and runs through Sunday, July 19, 2026. State and local law enforcement agencies from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and Tennessee will increase patrols to curb aggressive and speeding drivers.
