Putnam County Sheriff Eddie Farris recently gave an update on the jail addition expansion project. Sheriff Farris said this new addition will add approximately 500 new beds giving the Putnam County jail a total of approximately 752 beds with the option of adding an additional 200 beds later if needed.
Bell Construction Project Manager Rick Bruining stated, “The Putnam County Jail Addition expansion project remains on-track. With the majority of underground and foundation work complete, building erection is now underway, and expected to be complete in late February 2023. In the spring of 2023, the main focus will switch from building erection to the interior fit out and finishes, and a May 2024 expected completion date.”
Sheriff Farris stated, “The jail addition has been needed for several years now and will bring the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office to operational efficiency. This addition will also promote a safer work environment for employees and housing environment for the inmates, which will be achieved by the new facility and state of the art technology.”
