Lady Vols were coming in with a 9 game winning streak and UConn was looking to extend their 11 game winning streak. The Huskies threw the first punch in the first quarter outscoring the Lady Vols 33-17. In the second quarter Tennessee responded with a punch of their own only holding UConn to 7 points and cutting the lead to just four with a score of 40-36. However it was all UConn in the second half and putting the Lady Vols away with a final score of 84-67
Jordan Horston led the way for the Lady Vols having 27 points with 7 rebounds. It was Rickea Jackson second with 13 points and ultimately fouling out of the game late in the fourth quarter. Sara Puckett was able to score 11 points on the Huskies defense to round out Tennessee’s leading scorers.
UConn’s one two combo was led by the French superstar Lou Lopez Senechal who had 26 points and Canada’s Aaliyah Edwards scoring 25 points. Dorka Juhasz hailing from Hungary had 13 points and Aubrey Griffin also had 13 points.
