The 16th ranked Tennessee Volunteers traveled to Fayetteville to start a three game weekend series against the 5th ranked Arkansas Razorbacks. It wasn’t a successful weekend for Tennessee as the Vols would be swept by Arkansas.
Despite jumping out to an early lead with a pair of runs in the top of the first inning, defensive miscues and a tough night at the plate proved to be too much to overcome for #16 Tennessee as #5 Arkansas won the series opener, 5-2, in front of a sold-out crowd on Friday night at Baum-Walker Stadium.
Despite outhitting #5 Arkansas, the #16 Tennessee Volunteers fell 6-3 on Saturday night as the Razorbacks clinched the series.
#16 Tennessee fell behind early and struggled once again at the plate in a 7-2 loss to #5 Arkansas in Sunday’s series finale at Baum-Walker Stadium.
The starting pitchers for Tennessee were Andrew Lindsey on Friday, Chase Dollander on Saturday, and Drew Beam on Sunday who just lasted 1.2 innings before Chase Burns took the mound.
Tennessee (23-13, 5-10 SEC) returns home to begin a nine-game homestand on Tuesday evening against Tennessee Tech. First pitch is slated for 5:30 p.m. and the game will be streamed on SEC Network+ through the ESPN app.
