On its Facebook page, the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office has issued a warning about a phone scam involving someone someone claiming to be Captain Jeff Slayton from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office. The caller is asking for personal information or money. This is a scam and the caller is not Captain Slayton. This individual has been calling from a fake Google number (931-463-8691). If you receive a call like this from someone claiming to be Captain Slayton or any other officer, provide no personal information. Just hang up and call the Sheriff’s Office at (931) 484-6176 to report it.
