Sparta-White Co. Rescue Squad Rope Rescue Team Pull Dog Out Of 180-Foot Gorge

May 12, 2023 | 4:37 PM

The Sparta-White County Rescue Squad Rope Rescue Team pulled a dog out of a 180-foot gorge Thursday night (5/11/23).  Assistant Chief Charlie Tollison posted on his Facebook page that the team was called out to Fanchers Falls around 6:15pm. Rescuers discovered that a man had attempted to retrieve the dog on his own before realizing it was too dangerous.  One of the Team’s newest members, Jake Long, made contact with the dog and was able to apply the safety harness without incident. The black dog did not appear to be injured. Chief Tollison reminds the public to never go over a bluff after a pet. The Rescue Squad would much rather assist you, than to have to respond to an actual call for a rescue or recovery. (Photo courtesy Chief Charlie Tollison’s Facebook page)
