Jamestown Man Stopped For Littering Found With Stolen Gun

A Jamestown man stopped for littering after he threw a cigarette butt out of his car window on I-40 was found to be in possession of a stolen gun. Crossville Police pulled over 25-year-old Cooper Smith around 3pm Tuesday and discovered Smith was driving on a suspended license. A search of his vehicle turned up a Taurus 38 Special revolver that had been stolen during a home burglary in Fentress County. Officers also found a gun holster, bullets and an un-labled pill bottle that contained 9 oxycodone/acetaminophen pills.  Smith was placed under arrest and transported to the Cumberland County Justice Center for booking. The owner of the stolen gun has been contacted.
