The Tennessee Occupational Safety and Health Administration (TOSHA) says a museum worker in Chattanooga who died in a fall last January was not wearing proper protection equipment. George Walker was repairing leaks in a roof on Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum property when he stepped through a skylight and fell 37-feet to his death. TOSHA’s report found that Walker did not have fall protection on, the skylights on the roof were not guarded, and the employer did not ensure that employees were protected when working in an aerial lift, working at heights six feet or greater. Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum was fined $6,600 for the violations and was ordered to address the safety issues. The museum must also post the TOSHA violation where it’s visible to the public near the scene of the accident.
