The Cordell Hull Building in Nashville was shut down Thursday (6/22/2023) after letters with a suspicious white powder were delivered to GOP lawmakers. The letters reportedly contained threats targeting Republicans. Shortly before 2pm the Nashville Fire Department tweeted it had responded and had crews donned in protective suits and air tanks to test the substance. Nashville Tennessee Highway Patrol, the FBI, and the Department of Homeland Security also had personnel on the scene investigating. There were no immediate reports of injuries.
On Wednesday, CNN reported that in Kansas about 100 letters with a white powder were sent to officials across the state.
