During the regular session of the Crossville City Council on Tuesday, the Crossville City Council discussed a request by Habitat for Humanity to close Main Street on September 15th from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for the annual Lunch on the Lawn event. Council members were not keen on the idea of closing Main Street on a Friday and while the idea of closing Thurman Avenue behind the courthouse was an option, it was quickly rejected since most public access to the courthouse is via the Thurman entrance due to the front entrance being closed. Despite granting a monthly Main Street closure for the Crossville Cruise-In on Saturday, many council members felt like closure on a Friday would be a burden to business in the area. There was no motion to take any action.
