VEC Electric Grid Significantly Damaged In Monday’s Storms

VEC says Monday’s powerful storms caused significant damaged to its Electric Grid.  The Cooperative requested mutual aid to speed the repair work.   At the peak of the storm Monday, VEC had more than 20,000 accounts that were without power.  Crews worked through the night and by 7 o’clock Tuesday morning, the number of outages was down to around 8,200.  VEC says they still have a lot of work to but the majority of the outages should be restored by Tuesday (8/8/23).  VEC asks those still without power to utilize the SmartHub app to access the most current outage restoration information.  VEC appreciates your ongoing patience while they work to get the electricity back on for everyone
