The Roberts Matthews Highway Bridge over Post Oak Creek, which is one mile south of the White and Putnam County line, will be temporarily closed beginning on Monday, August 21, 2023. This closure is necessary so construction crews can replace the current bridge structure, which was built in 1942. The roadway will remain closed until completion of the project, which is anticipated to takeapproximately nine (9) months. Roberts Matthews Highway will be closed between South Cookeville Lane and Farley Road. Walnut Grove Road and Lancaster Road will be marked as the detour route around the construction area. It is highly recommended that all through traffic utilize Highway 111. Motorist are encouraged to use caution in the area as this work is taking place and to pay close attention to construction and detour signage. The estimated completion date for the $2.8 million project is May 27, 2024.
