A Morgan County man reportedly swallowed a bag of meth during a traffic stop Friday afternoon (9/22/23). Crossville Police say the female driver was pulled over for a non-working brake light. As the officer approached, he observed a clear plastic bag believed to contain methamphetamine in the lap of passenger Clarence D. Laymance, age 23, of Wartburg. The Police report states Laymance had a pistol under his right leg. A check revealed Laymance was wanted for Violation of Probation in Morgan County. As officers searched the vehicle for drugs and weapons, Laymance began sweating profusely. Laymance reportedly vomited up a clear plastic bag he said was meth and asked to go to the hospital. Police say the search of the car turned up 4 bags of meth, 1 bag of heroin, a .45 caliber pistol, and a box of ammunition. After Laymance was medically cleared, he was transported to the Cumberland County Justice Center and charged with Simple Possession, Manufacture, Delivery and Sell of Methamphetamine, Possession of a Firearm and Tampering with Evidence. The Crossville Police Department’s report did not state any charges against the driver.
