Monday night, the Cumberland County Commission met in person for the first time since the declaration of the COVID-19 pandemic. Among items passed was a resolution to appoint Garry Blaisdell as the Veterans Service Officer to replace the retiring Bill Ward. County Mayor Allen Foster also reported that local option sales tax receipts were above expectations for the month of March. Collections came in at $854,049. Foster noted that he expects April to be the worst month financially, and added “Overall, we are in a fragile budget year.”
