Oct 9, 2023 | 3:22 PM

The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency has announced the grant recipients of the 2024 aquatic stream clean-up projects across the state.

The grants were awarded to various organizations for 19 projects including:

– The Obed Watershed Alliance for aquatic stream clean-up projects in the Obed River, creeks, streams, tributary, and non-tributaries in Cumberland County.

– Keep Putnam Beautiful for clean-up projects in Monterey, Baxter, Burgess Falls, and Cummins Mill in Putnam County.

– The Rhea County Eagle Anglers for clean-up projects at Chickamauga Lake.

The program is designed to assist cities, schools, community organizations, civic groups, watershed organizations, and conservation groups, with stream clean-up projects.

The deadline to apply was June 30, 2023. In announcing the grant opportunity earlier this year, TWRA said five grants, at a maximum of $1,000 each, were available for each of TWRA’s four regional Aquatic Habitat Protection projects, for a total of $5,000 per region.
