A body found in an SUV pulled from Clinch River on Thursday has been identified as Oliver Springs police officer James Perkins. His vehicle was discovered in the river behind the Food City Plaza in Kingston. “Apparently his vehicle went in the water sometime early (Thursday) morning around Ladd Landing boat ramp and drifted downstream to a house on North Kentucky Street,” Kingston Police Department Chief Jim Washam told Roane County News. WVLT reports that Perkins had been an officer since 2006 and worked with the Rockwood Police Department, Roane State Community College Police Department, Springs City Police Department and the OSPD. The TBI is investigating, however, Kingston police do not suspect foul play.
