Nov 6, 2023 | 4:00 PM

Firefighters across Middle and East Tennessee worked diligently through the weekend and into Monday battling wildfires.

According to tn.firesponse.com, crews were called to a wildfire on Ashford Drive in Cumberland County that was still active as of 3pm Monday and was five acres in size.  A 14-acre fire on Brylee Lane was contained by 2pm on Monday.  Cumberland County has responded to numerous wildfires in recent days and State Forestry has placed a restriction on outdoor burning in the county until at least Thursday. Cumberland County Fire/Rescue reminds everyone that if you decide to burn debris during this period and it gets out of control, you could face charges.

In Rhea County on Monday crews battled a 260 acre wildfire on Pocket Wilderness Road that was 90 percent contained as of 4pm.  Signs were posted at Pocket Wilderness saying the park is closed until further notice due to the forest fire.

In Van Buren County, a 25 acre wildfire was 75 percent contained as of 4pm Monday.

Firefighters were also called out to wildfires in Morgan and Scott Counties on Monday.

In Anderson County, a wildfire that was first reported just after 6 p.m. Saturday on the ridge overlooking Rocky Top near Scott Brogan Lane had grown to 190 acres by 3pm Monday and was 75 percent contained.
