The THP has released the accident report on the crash involving a Cumberland County school bus and a pickup truck. It happened around 6:30 Friday morning (11/10/23) near the Westel Fire Station. According to the report, the school bus had stopped on Highway 70 East to pick up a student. The school bus had all warning signs and lights activated properly. The driver of the pickup truck, 26-year-old Troy B. Pemberton, was traveling westbound and stated he had fallen asleep when he crashed into the rear of the bus. No injuries were reported for the bus driver or the 27 students who were on the bus at the time of the crash. Mr. Pemberton was injured and the Westel Fire Department reported he had to be extricated from the truck and was handed over to EMS to be checked out. No charges are pending.
