The #15 Tennessee Lady Volunteers were looking to bounce back after a heartbreaking loss to Florida State last Thursday as they hosted, In-State rival, the Memphis Tigers on Monday night. After a close battle with the Tigers the Lady Vols outlasted Memphis in Overtime with a final score of 84-74.
Wake Forest Transfer Jewel Spear led the way in Tennessee’s victory with a Double-Double. Spear put up 19 points along with 12 rebounds. Sara Puckett was the leading point getter for UT after scoring 24 points. Jasmine Powell scored 17 points and Jillian Hollingshead put up 14 points. Tennessee’s star player Rickea Jackson missed Monday’s game with an lower leg injury. Leading scorers for Memphis was Kai Carter with 18 points. Maddison Griggs was able to score 16 points, Ki’Ari Cain scored 11 points, and Alasia Smith rounded out the top scorers for the Tigers with 10 points.
Tennessee improve to 3-1 on the season and will have another home game this Sunday. #15 Tennessee plays host to the Troy Trojans November 19th at 1:00 PM.
