After fighting the Renegade Mountain wildfire since just before 10am Wednesday (11/15/23), crews from Cumberland County Fire, Crossville Fire and State Forestry achieved 100 percent containment of the blaze by around 7pm. The evacuated residents from Renegade and Godsey Road were allowed to return to their homes Wednesday night. The Crossville/Cumberland County Emergency Management Agency said the wildfire will continue to burn for several days inside the fire line. Cumberland County Fire and State Forestry will have people on fire watch for the next few days. It’s reported that two condo buildings with 10 units were lost in the fire. No injuries to the public or fire crews were sustained on Wednesday.
