THSO Reports On Multi-Jurisdictional Checkpoint Held in Advance of New Year’s Holiday

The Tennessee Highway Safety Office reports that a multi-jurisdictional checkpoint was held on Friday, December 29th in advance of the New Year’s Holiday in efforts to increase awareness and enforcement of impaired driving. The checkpoint was held at the Rhea County / Roane County line on Highway 27.

A total of 57 individuals participated in the event. Departments participating included the Crossville and Fairfield Glade Police Departments, the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office in addition to:

Tennessee Highway Patrol

Tennessee Department of Safety

Rhea County Sheriff’s Department

Red Bank Police Department

Dayton TN Police Department

Signal Mountain Police Department

Safe Journey Child Passenger Safety Program

Of the 350 vehicles that passed through the checkpoint, 17 were detained and officers conducted 2  Standardized Field Sobriety Tests.  Citations issued included 1 for Open Container, 4 Seat Belt Violations, 3 Light Law violations, 4 Registration violations and 2 for Suspended License.
