TN Lawmakers Introduce Bill Banning Non-Trained Emotional Support Animals In Food Service Establishments

Jan 5, 2024 | 5:03 PM

Tennessee lawmakers are trying to keep pets out of areas where food is prepared and served. The bill filed by State Representative Kirk Haston (Republican -Lobelville) and State Senator Page Walley (Republican -Savannah) “As introduced, prohibits emotional support animals that are not trained, or being trained, to perform tasks or work for a person with a disability from indoor areas of food service establishments.”  If the bill passes, “emotional support animals” would not be allowed in any area restaurants or grocery stores unless you can prove they have been trained.  State law already bans pets in such areas.

The 113th General Assembly will reconvene at 12:00 noon (CST) on Tuesday, January 9, 2024.
