3 Wildfires Reported in Less Than 3 Hours Monday in Cumberland County

Feb 5, 2024 | 2:52 PM

Even with the recent snow and rain, your brush fire can quickly get out of control. That was the case on Monday when three wildfires were reported in under three hours across Cumberland County.  The first fire was reported around 11:30am in the 700 block of Mayland Road when a brush fire got out of control and caught the back yard on fire.  Less than an hour later a wildfire was reported in the 500 block of Bristow Road.  Then around 1:43pm a brush fire was reported to be getting out of control in the 500 block of Baxter Norris Road in Crab Orchard.  Just before 3pm a wildfire was reported at a residence in the 400 block of Blackfoot Drive. Remember, burn permits are required through May 15 and you should check with your local fire departments before doing any outdoor burning. You can find outdoor burning safety tips at burnsafetn.org.
