Man Who Allegedly Fled Putnam County Traffic Stop Caught Hiding in the Woods

According to a press release from the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, on Sunday (February 18, 2024) Deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Sixth Avenue South in Putnam County. The driver, who was later identified as Phillip J. Moore, quickly fled and attempted to ram one of the deputy’s vehicles before ultimately crashing his vehicle on Jack Lewis Road. PCSO Deputies, assisted by PCSO K9, Baxter Police Department, and Tennessee Highway Patrol began a search in the nearby woods where Moore had fled after crashing his vehicle. PCSO K9 was able to successfully track Moore where he was found to be hiding in the woods.

Moore was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault, Reckless Endangerment, 2 counts of Evading Arrest, 5 counts of Vandalism, and Driving on Revoked/Suspended License. Moore has a bond set at $9,400 and a court date of March 26, 2024.
