A pair of hikers were rescued Wednesday afternoon (3/27/24) from Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
WVLT reports the hikers activated a rescue beacon Tuesday when they became very cold in the rain and fog. Rangers could not get to them right away because of downed trees and low visibility so the two hikers had to spend the night.
Rangers were able to get to them Wednesday near the Tennessee/North Carolina state line and brought them out that afternoon.
There were no immediate reports of injuries.
