Beginning Monday, April 15th the possession and consumption of alcohol will be banned on all TWRA Wildlife Management Areas except in designated TWRA campgrounds and public waters bordering or within a WMA.
The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency says the ban is needed due to the high rates of intoxicated driving in WMAs and crashes where alcohol was a contributing factor. The ban also applies to passengers.
On Monday, Wildlife Officers will begin issuing citations for those who violate the WMA alcohol ban.
