Putnam County Sheriff’s Office Press Release:
On April 11, 2024, Former Putnam County Sheriff’s Office Correctional Officer Anthony Wayne Chandler was arrested on Official Misconduct.
On April 8, 2024, Putnam County Detectives received a True Bill from the Putnam County Grand Jury on Chandler after a month-long investigation.
PCSO Detectives were able to find evidence where Chandler was bringing in illegal contraband into [the] jail facility to some of the inmates.
On April 11, 2024, Chandler was arrested on his Criminal Indictment and charged with one count of Official Misconduct. Chandler has a bond of $10,000 and a court date of August 22, 2024.
Sheriff Farris stated, “This incident is completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated. I am grateful for the good citizens of Putnam County for assisting our Detectives with this internal investigation in which this matter will be resolved.” (Press release courtesy PCSO)
