A Maryville man died Thursday night (July 4, 2024) after a firework he was holding exploded in his hand and caused a large wound in his chest. Mathew Sellars was shooting fireworks with some friends when the accident happened. WVLT reports that Sellars was pronounced dead at 11:30pm. No one else was injured and the Blount County Sheriff’s Office issued no charges or citations in the incident.
